According to the US Census Bureau, 23% of children in the United States live in single-parent households. Children from single-parent households are more likely to experience poverty, drop out of school, and face mental health challenges. In fact, children in single-parent households are five times more likely to live in poverty than children in two-parent households.

We know that single parents work incredibly hard to provide for their children, but we also know that every child deserves the love and support of both parents. The No More series is designed to promote healthy family structures and advocate for the importance of marriage and two-parent households.

The premier issue of the New Nubian Fashions newsletter states, "There is nothing fly about a broken family." We believe that it's time to change the way we think about broken families in all communities, especially minority communities, and start

advocating for strong, healthy families.

As a company founded by a formerly incarcerated Black man that served 24 years off of a life sentence, New Nubian Fashions recognizes the historical impacts of chattel slavery and mass incarceration on our community.

We understand that these systemic issues have contributed to the breakdown of the Black family structure.

According to the National Fatherhood Initiative, 67% of African American children grow up without a father in the home. This is a staggering statistic that has significant negative impacts on the Black community. Children growing up without a father in the home are more likely to live in poverty, experience emotional and behavioral problems, and struggle in school.

We believe that it is important to address the root causes of these issues and advocate for strong, healthy families in the Black community. The No More series from New Nubian Fashions is designed to challenge harmful cultural narratives that perpetuate

the breakdown of the Black family structure.

We believe that every child deserves the love and support of both parents. We also recognize the incredible strength and resilience of single parents in the Black community who work tirelessly to provide for their children. However, we know that

strong, healthy families are essential to the well-being of our community.
